File Share Builder

Compose Enterprise is going through a design update. The illustrations on this page might be of the old design, but the information is up to date. Thank you for your patience during this update!

In the File Share Builder you can upload files and make them available online. This functionality comes in handy if you’d like to share documents with respondent users. Say, you use a form to populate a PDF contract. It's common to preview the contract to the respondent user during the service. This can be done by uploading the PDF template to a file share, and sharing the link to the web share file in the form. Check out the https://composetogo.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/CNGD/pages/1835193 user guide to learn how to incorporate shared files in a service.

Before entering the File Share Builder you need to create a new file share or open an existing file share (see the https://composetogo.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/CNGD/pages/1835220 documentation). The builder consists of a column of settings, a customizable hierarchy with folders and a file table in addition to a top menu specific for organizing uploaded files.

State

A File share has two states – Stop (the files are not available online) and Play (the files are accessible online from the URL in the file table).

URL Path Ending

The URL path name will be included in the file URLs.

Folders

Under Folders you will find the root of the file share and the folders you’ve added. The root will have the name of the URL Path Ending. The Folders section is explained in more detail in regards to the options in the Top menu below.

Top menu

Files can be uploaded inside the builder and stored in a customized folder hierarchy of your choosing. This functionality therefore requires a top menu with more options than for other builders. In addition to creating new and opening existing file shares, you may create new folders under the root of the file share. You may upload and download files directly to/from the root and the folders you’ve created, and also rename and delete said files and folders.

File Table

All uploaded files will be shown in a table view. Select the root/folders to view the files within that folder, just like you would do in the workspace hierarchy in the Organizer.

File Table

Name

Name of the uploaded file.

Changed

States the last time the file was changed.

Content Type

Displays the file type.

URL

When the file share is running, the file can be reached by the URL displayed here.

The URL path of the shared file is generated with the following structure:

  • htttps://name of Compose installation/workspace/file share path URL/folder hierarchy within file share/file name

As an example, look at the URL of the first file in the table:

Here, cloud1.onctg.com/cng is the name of the Compose installation, workspace is the name of the workspace, compose is the file share path URL, contracts is the destination folder of the file in the file share and Contract 1.pdf is the file name. Note: You are allowed to use space between words in the title of the file name.
