Views - Different views of the same form

Compose Enterprise is going through a design update. The illustrations on this page might be of the old design, but the information is up to date. Thank you for your patience during this update!

Norsk

Compose is equipped with functionality to display different views of the same form/workflow for different gadgets, say PC, iPad, Mobile, PDF etc. By creating different views of a form, you can optimize and adapt form layouts for different screen sizes (say mobile compared to desktop). Then these form views can be configured for different perspectives in a workflow. This user guide will demonstrate creation of views. We highly recommend to read the https://composetogo.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/CNGD/pages/1789132900 user guide afterwards to see how to set up your created views in a workflow.

Views are created in the Views panel in the Settings section of the form builder. There are two ways to create an additional view to a form. You can create a new view, or you can clone a view. If you create a new view this view will be empty and you can start adding the questions from the data model already added to the first view. If you decide to clone an existing view, the new view will be identical to the existing view. From here you can edit the view to fit your needs.

Clone View

In this example we will clone a view. Select an existing view and click Clone View in the Views panel.

Enter a view name and select an icon to easier keep your views apart. Note that there are no functionality associated with the icons. Then click Done.

The default view has been cloned. Double-click the new view to open it in the Builder section.

Change the properties of the pages, elements etc. to fit your needs. You can easily change between the different views in the Select View dropdown in the View panel.

When you are done making changes remember to save the draft and create a version to make the form with the new changes available to use in a workflow.

Create a view

In this example we will create a new view. Click New View.

Enter a view name and select an icon to easier keep your views apart. Note that there are no functionality associated with the icons. Then click Done.

The new view is listed in the Views panel. Double-click it to open the new view in the Builder section.

This new view does not have any pages or elements yet. To start adding elements, select the view in the Pages panel and click the New Page button. Enter a suitable page name and click OK.

When you have created a page it is possible to add existing form questions. To add questions to a page, select the page and click the Existing tab in the Elements panel. You will see the form data model.

All these questions have a icon to indicate that they are not active in the view. By simply clicking the questions they will be added to the page in the canvas.

When you are done making changes, remember to save the draft and create a version to make the form with the new changes available to use in a workflow. Head over to the https://composetogo.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/CNGD/pages/1789132900 user guide to continue the implementation of the form views as separate perspectives in a workflow.
