PDF Generation

PDF Generation

Compose Enterprise is going through a design update. The illustrations on this page might be of the old design, but the information is up to date. Thank you for your patience during this update!

Norsk

The PDF Generation activity is located under Data Delivery in the Activities panel in the Workflow Builder. Drag and drop the activity to the canvas and select it to reveal the Properties panel on the right. The PDF Generation activity enables you to generate PDF files from previous form activities in the workflow. Later in the workflow the PDF files can be processed by other activities. Simple PDF generation is demonstrated in the Build a simple workflow user guide.

Properties - Basics tab

Name

For the convenience of the workflow designer. The name is only used while building the workflow, and is not shown in respondent view. If you give all the workflow activities easily identifiable names it will be easier to find the correct activity when documents and question answers are used across the workflow.

File Name

The filename entered is the file name for the generated PDF.

Header

A header can be customized for the PDF, either by a static text, generated from a text generator or from the answer of a form question. Select the radiobutton for your method. For Question and Generator, select browse to browse the source of the header.

Footer

Identical concept as for the header (see the description above).

Properties - Content tab

Add Form Activity

A PDF activity can merge the information received from different form activities to one PDF. To select the form activities you wish to include in the PDF press the Add Form Activity button.

Delete Form Activity

All form activities added to the PDF activity can be removed by selecting the activity and pressing the Delete Form Activity button.

Move up/down

With two or more forms added, the order of the forms can be changed. Select a form from the list and use the move up/down buttons.

Properties - Layout tab

Default

You can setup different layout/skin targets depending on the start point.

Skin

As a default, choose between the page break and no page break skins. The page break skin will start a new PDF page when a form page has ended, while the no page break skin won’t. If you’ve uploaded other PDF skins, then these will appear in the dropdown.

Respondent

By default respondent is selected. If checked the view shown to the end-user when filling out the form will be added to PDF.

Perspective

When checked you can choose which perspective you wish to use for the PDF. (To have additional perspective options these need to be added in the workflow settings section).

Alternative

In the Alternative tab you can add the perspective you wish to use as an alternative layout. Except the adding and deletion of perspectives, the properties are identical to the Default tab (see the description above).

Add / Delete Perspective

Add a perspective and select it. (To have additional perspective options these need to be added in the workflow settings section). The perspective can also be deleted with the Delete Perspective button.
