Start Point
Compose Enterprise is going through a design update. The illustrations on this page might be of the old design, but the information is up to date. Thank you for your patience during this update!
The Start Point is the start of the workflow. This is the point you specify workflow properties such as the URL Path End for the workflow link, authentication settings, welcome message, global recipient emails and more. The Start Point is located under Connections in the workflow Activities list in the workflow builder. Add a Start point by dragging and dropping it to the canvas. Select the start point in the canvas to see the Start point properties panel on the right.
Properties - Start point | |
---|---|
Name | A convenient name for the workflow designer. Handy for keeping multiple start points apart. |
URL Path End | Customizable end of the workflow URL path. The complete workflow URL will include name of installation/name of repository/URL path name. |
Front Page | The front page will not appear in the respondent view unless one or more of the front page options are chosen. |
User can continue later | Enable a continue later button in the respondent view. When the end-user clicks this button, the user is given a reference number so they can save their progress and return at a later time. When the user then revisits the form, they enter their reference number and continue where they left off. See the Continue later user guide for more details. |
User can select language | Compose supports multiple languages for each workflow. If more than one language has been added to the workflow, the end-user can select language on the front page of the service. |
Authenticate With | Enable mandatory authentication to enter the workflow, with Azure AD, BankID, ID-porten and/or Vipps as the authentication options. (ID-porten (Legacy) is the older SAML version of ID-porten. The ID-porten option is with OIDC). If a Username and Password is required to access authentications, then ask your system administrator for access to an authentication profile. |
ID-porten Security Level | Select preferred security level provided by ID-porten. Available options are Level 3 - Password Protected and Level 4 - Smartcard PKI |
Welcome Message | Customize a welcome message which will be displayed on the front page. |
Publish State & State -metadata | Publish a state of a session to case management portals. States are used for defining cases, say if a case is in progress, approved, rejected etc. The state is defined by session data defined in the State - Metadata menu (see Variable menus on menus with variable creation). |
Input Variables | Define variables which can be used later for prepopulation in the workflow (see Variable menus on menus with variable creation for more info). |
Cancel option | Enable a Cancel button in the workflow. The user may cancel and delete their progress. You can redirect the user to a URL (using variables). The cancelling feature can also be added to the logo by checking the User cancels on clicking logo checkbox. See the Cancel workflow and Redirect users to URLs with variables for additional help. |
Bottleneck detection | Compose supports Hotjar tracking code, to record GDPR friendly bottleneck detection in workflows. User guide is on the way. |
Properties - Start point | |
---|---|
Partner Information | Add partner specific details that can be mapped later in the workflow with different details for start points. |
Company Name | Add a global value, say company name, which you can use later in the workflow. This field allows for a longer name than the short start point name. |
Primary & Secondary & Tertiary Recipient | Add one or more global values, say email address, which you can use later in the workflow. Insert multiple email addresses divided by “; “ (e.g. post@usecompose.com; support@usecompose.com) |
Perspective | Select which perspective to use from the perspectives created in the workflow settings menu. For more info about perspectives, see the user guide Perspectives - Different views of the same workflow. |
Layout/Skin (Default Layout/ Design Settings) | Select whether the activity should have a custom layout, or inherit (the layout) from previous step, inherit from entry point or inherit from workflow. By picking Custom you can override the workflow layout/skin settings. See the Layout/ Skin property for the Workflow Builder – Settings section to see all layout options. |
Alternative View Settings | |
Add perspective | If the workflow has more than one perspective added in the workflow settings it will be possible to use one or more of the perspectives as an alternative perspective for the activity. Select the Add Perspective button and select the perspective you wish to use as an alternative. Use the Delete Perspective button to delete a perspective. See the Perspectives - Different views of the same workflow user guide to learn more about perspectives. |
User Agent Pattern | Based on string match. Most user agent strings contains the essential mainstream name for devices. Like, iphone, ipad, android etc. That is usually sufficient to do a decent detection. |
Layout/skin | If you select an alternative perspective a dropdown for this alternative perspective's layout/skin will be enabled. You can select if the layout/skin should be inherited or if it should be custom. See the description of Layout/skin above for more information. |
